Disclaimer on Latency Testing Methodology
The latency test for the gaming controller was conducted using the MiSTer hardware and an Arduino Pro Micro board utilizing the NES Lag Test core. To ensure accurate measurements, the contacts on the D6 Gamepad controller PCB were soldered to facilitate automated input signals. The tests involved simulating 1000 button presses in Xinput mode under two configurations: wired connection and USB wireless connection. The resulting latency values reported are the averages derived from the 1000-button-press tests in each configuration. These results are specific to the described setup and may vary based on factors such as environmental conditions, hardware variations, or different testing methods. This disclaimer is provided to clarify the testing methodology and to acknowledge potential variations in real-world scenarios.

This fightpad with the Sega Saturn-style 6-button layout is a fantastic option for anyone who enjoys fighting games, arcade games, or many titles from the 16-bit to 32-bit era. The D-pad takes some getting used to, but once you adapt, it performs well enough. Complex inputs like double 360s with Zangief in Street Fighter IV also become possible with practice.
One downside, however, is the lack of rumble support in D-Input mode. Vibration feedback only works in X-Input mode, which is a bit disappointing. Hopefully, this can be addressed through a future firmware update (for both Windows and Android).
Another huge plus: it’s Android-compatible. This was particularly important to me as I use it with my docked Android handheld. Both X-Input and D-Input are supported, but again, no rumble in D-Input mode. As a result, I decided to order a second one for multiplayer games like Mario Kart 64 or Worms Armageddon.
On Android, however, RetroArch requires one controller to be set to X-Input and the other to D-Input. I’m not sure if this is also the case on Windows, but at least on Android, RetroArch is unable to recognize the controllers as separate devices otherwise. This issue does not occur on the Switch, so I believe it is a software problem at the Android level. However, it was never advertised that the controller would be compatible with Android, so this is not a major issue for me.
All in all, it’s a great controller. With a firmware fix to enable rumble support in D-Input, it would be near-perfect.
this is my first retro fighters gamepad, i bought it to use as a pc gamepad for street fighter 6 and possibly other fighting games. i’ve had it just over a week now and i’m very pleased with my purchase. the buttons are big and clicky and responsive. the dpad feels great, also nice clickiness there, good size, feels precise. initially i had some trouble in panic situations, because i would tend to mash out the input (dp/super mostly), but when i stopped mashing everything came out just how i wanted it to. love the size, shape, and weight of the pad overall. having rumble is a nice bonus as well.
Great controller, it’s similar to the Madcatz SF4 Fightpads. However, the material on the d-pad might hurt the skin on your thumbs. If Retro-Fighters could use a softer plastic material on the d-pad it would be perfect.
