I never minded the OG N64 3-prong controller design. However it hasn’t aged well, especially the hard plastic analog stick, which gets loose on 95% of OG N64 controllers. Sure you can mod the OG pad to have a GameCube-style stick for $15 plus your time (which I did with mine), but you’re still stuck with 6ft cords. Thus the need and demand for a product like the Brawler64!

The Brawler64 is comfy to hold, has a nice, rubber, grippy analog stick, bigger C buttons than the OG pad, decent shoulder buttons & the Z triggers feel much more like contemporary Xbox or PS4 triggers, even though no N64 games were programmed to take advantage of pressure-sensitive triggers. The D-pad isn’t the greatest to be honest. It’s serviceable but I wish it was closer to Nintendo’s own design. The Rumble Pak & memory card both plugged in and worked perfectly. The 10ft cord is awesome! overall If you hate the OG N64 pad I recommend the Brawler64 100%. If you don’t mind the OG N64 pad (modded with a GameCube stick or not) I’d still recommend the Brawler64 80%.

Product arrived quickly, plugged into N64 powered ON and OMG control design and button feel are on point. When playing Mario or games with heavy analog control and C button for camera adjustment it’s night and day compared to the original N64 control. Brawler64 modernize retro gaming with updated control layout that feel familiar with modern gaming controls ie xbox , PlayStation etc. Strongly recommend the investment, treat your self your thumbs and hands will thank you.

This thing is everything I expected it to be and more. If only all consoles had such dedicated people behind it to keep it alive and up to date.
