This is the only NSO controller you’ll need. I can finally play NES (now GB and GBA) games with the proper B A layout. It’s hard to make Mario run and jump properly with the YXBA layout we’ve had since SNES, at least with the way I use my thumb. Put this controller in pro controller mode for SNES and you’re golden. Of course, this controller was built for and is marketed as an N64 NSO controller. It’s perfect. They modernized the build. The three prong build is visually interesting and nostalgic, but what Retro Fighters have done is great. The buttons are responsive, the joystick works great, and the ever important D-pad is great as well. Highly recommended!

For many years, I have tried finding a perfect N64 controller for PC purposes for Aki game ROM hacks and nothing has fit the bill. They're very much all rooted in the N64 controller's look, feel, and button setup - especially with the C buttons and no modern-day controller can really replicate that. The Brawler 64 does a perfect job of doing so but with a far better setup for the Z button by having it be a modern-day trigger button while the analog stick is among the best I've ever used. It works wonderfully on the Switch as well, so awkward controls with the NSO N64 lineup are a thing of the past.

Got it from Kickstarter. This controller is 100% legit the G.O.A.T! This will allow you to have an n64 configured controller and not have to wait on the official Nintendo Switch NSO wireless controller that we seem to not be able to order, EVER!! I already started Zelda Ocarina of time and will start Mario64. I cannot wait to destroy people locally and online when Goldeneye drops. #NoOddJob! See you online folks! Game on! If you have trouble pairing it with you Switch do the following (I did, and this worked for me) 1. Make sure the Pro Controller Wired Communication is toggled Off in Settings> Controllers and Sensors 2. Now, go to Controllers> Change Grip/Order 3. Hold sync button on the back until the light on front of the controller flash fast (usually 3 seconds) You will get an n64 controller icon in the top left with a message Paired (You're ready to play) 4. Repeat step 3 for remaining controller(s) if applicable

I have been eyeing the Brawler64 controller since it was first introduced several years ago. Every time a new version comes out I’ve been tempted more and more. Once I stumbled across the Kickstarter for this new Bluetooth NSO version I just had to finally give in. It just arrived today and I couldn’t wait to try it. It is absolutely glorious to use this to play N64 games in a modern way. The N64/Pro Controller swap button is GREAT. Pressing it actually changes the type of controller the console sees you as using. I love that N64 mode is actually recognized by the Switch as an N64 controller as it displays the controller you’re using as the official Nintendo brand unit. This controller is amazing and I’m so grateful that Retro Fighters saw the need for a product like this and came through with a product that delivers where it counts. Thank you so much!

    Great wireless controller!
Buttons feel good, it looks beautiful, connects easily to PC via USB or BT 🙂
This is what the OG N64 controller should have been!

For whatever reason, regardless of using on Windows or Linux, if I want to play on Ship of Harkanian, I have to open an N64 emulator, start a game, then play with SoH. Works, but weird.

Really a 4.5/5 but seriously solid.

It works flawlessly with NSO N64 games, correct button mapping, access to the suspend menu, home menu, etc. The swap button also works perfectly without even needing to enter the controller change screen. While I doubt I’ll use it as a pro controller, that button is great for being able to access X/Y button functionality that doesn’t exist on the N64 controller. The switch actually reads it as a N64 controller in N64 mode and a pro controller in pro controller mode, as notated by the icon at the bottom of the screen.

My one and only thing I dislike is due to the form factor, the A/B button are where a right stick normally is, so my thumb doesn’t naturally rest there. I can get used to that, but I think it could be better if the A/B buttons had a different texture in this format so it’s easier to tell them apart by feel. They are different sizes from the C-buttons, but a different texture would help too.

Otherwise perfect, and I definitely recommend. Nintendo can’t keep their N64 controllers in stock so I was very happy to find a solid alternative.

Amazing Controller! Great for N64 Switch online and GBA Switch online as well.
